Louis Braille and a Student - Detail of the Louis Braille Monument
When Louis was ten, he moved to Paris, France, where he attended the Royal Institute for Blind Youth, a special school for blind children. Later he became a teacher at the school. This detail from the Louis Braille monument in Coupvray depicts Louis guiding the hand of a young blind student over a page of raised dot writing.
