The Room Where Louis Braille was Born
It is believed all of the Braille children, including Louis, were born in this little bedroom which is a recessed alcove off of the main room of the house. The christening gown spread on the bed is typical of those used at that time. Louis Braille’s birth date was January 4, 1809. He was christened four days later in Coupvray’s Church of St. Pierre.
